Dear members and prospective members,

Once again, I hope this finds you puffing on a fine smoke (say.... a Nat Sherman Banker!). 

Thanks to all those who attended the Cigar-BQ, and welcome to our new members: Joe, Craig, Dale, and Mike.  The weather was great, the brats fantastic, and all had a good time.  An account is in the Gazette Newspaper.  We're goint to try to get a mention in Cigar Afficianado as well.  Now, let's make the golf tournament a success as well.  We've had some great contributions for the golf tournament from several vendors (White House Golf, Davidus Cigars, Cigar Shirts, and Southside Cigar) such that all participants will start the day with a fine smoke and cigar gift.   Several foursomes are still available.

I wanted to let you all know of a few activities that the MCL is moving forward on, foremost of which is an effort to support our troops.  We are in the process of talking with regional cigar stores to set up MCL-sponsored "buy one for the troops" cigar boxes where customers can buy cigars for our troops.  We will consolidate the purchases and send them out to deployed units who - far from home - would appreciate a thoughtful smoke. 

After the golf tournament, we are setting up two smoking events.  First, a Smokin'-Surf&Turf at the Cracked Claw in Urbana for mid-June.  The Cracked Claw has a very large, nice outdoor patio section and is cigar friendly.  The second is a Cigar-Wine tasting at a local vineyard....possibly the Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard.  For this event, if I see enough support, we'll have a cigar roller attend and have hand-made, fresh cigars. 

I hope to hear from our supporters in the Frederick area.  There's much to be done before opening our location in the Fall.
